Admissions Requirements

Clinical Massage Therapy Diploma Program

Those considering massage therapy as a profession should be of good character and display sufficient motivation and commitment to succeed in a program aimed at producing clinical massage therapy professionals. Massage therapists must demonstrate a high degree of functionality in many areas, such as:

  • Physical stamina and fine motor coordination;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Trustworthiness and professionalism.

Candidates for the clinical massage therapy diploma program must be (1) at least 18 years of age and (2) prior to the start of classes, provide documented proof of high school graduation or its equivalency; i.e.,  a copy of a high school diploma or a GED, a high school transcript, and/or written certification by a cognizant authority for home-schooled students. A student attestation of high school graduation, which identifies the name of the secondary school, location, and date of graduation, may be provided as proof of high school graduation only on a limited, exceptional basis.

The Soma Institute reserves the right to deny admission to an applicant who has been convicted of any felony. Failure to fully disclose all felony convictions as required by The Soma Institute application for admission constitutes grounds for the denial of admission. Note: Some Soma clinical education externships require criminal background checks and drug screening.

Health & Wellness Coaching Certificate Program

Those considering the Health and Wellness Coaching Program should be of good character and display sufficient motivation and commitment to succeed in a program aimed at producing highly trained coaching professionals.

Candidates for the Health and Wellness Coaching Program must (1) be at least 18 years of age and (2) prior to the start of classes, provide documented proof of high school graduation or its equivalency; i.e., a copy of a high school diploma or a GED, a high school transcript, and/or written certification by a cognizant authority for home-schooled students. A student attestation of high school graduation, which identifies the name of the secondary school, location, and date of graduation, may be provided as proof of high school graduation only on a limited, exceptional basis. (3) Students are required to have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with a strong internet connection and camera functionality in order to get the maximum benefit of the program.
