Healing Power Of Massage

  • Robin Roberts, Good Morning America anchor: The Power of Massage

At this year’s annual American Massage Therapy Association 2016 National Convention, one of the keynote speakers is Robin Roberts, a cancer survivor and anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America. Roberts knows and promotes the power of massage therapy for those suffering from cancer. In 2007, in addition to reporting on world events, Roberts announced her diagnosis of breast cancer. She allowed her audience an inside glimpse into her personal experiences with the disease and path through treatment.

According to AMTA, “Her courageous and public battle has been recognized with awards and honors from organizations around the country. Since her diagnosis Robin has become an outspoken advocate for breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection.”

One in eight women in the United States will get breast cancer—which is considered one of the deadliest diseases among women today. The good news is that women are surviving breast cancer more than ever—if it’s found and treated early. Recent studies have found that massage offers many health benefits for women with breast cancer. Massage, in general, is helpful for varying ailments, including: anxiety, immune function, fatigue, and pain.
