State of Massage Therapy

AMTA: State of Massage Therapy

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) released its annual summary research on the state of the massage therapy profession. The report indicates that trends of recent years are continuing—with an influx in consumer demand and, as a result, a professional services demand. A couple of the main highlights from AMTA’s report are listed below. Take a look!

  • 52% of consumers sought their last massage for medical or health benefits.
  • Massage therapists continue to see an increase in opportunities within health care environments as integration of massage therapy into patient care advances.
  • Between 2014 and 2015, the estimated number of full-time and part-time massage therapists grew by 3 percent to approximately 346,000.
