The 2010 February Day program had their New Student Orientation this past Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. Accompanied by the Soma Student Escorts, the 1002D students were introduced to the program through first-hand knowledge and experience.

The Soma Institute sent over 40 of its students to the IGI Chicago Style Gymnastics Meet this past weekend. The 42 students provided massages for the gymnasts, parents and judges. Altogether, the students provided 437 massages in eight hours. According the Lambert Caldwell, the event supervisor, the students “had a great time working and showing what they have learned.”

Tammy Eich, former Cohort Faculty Assistant, has begun her new position at Soma as the Student Success Coach. The Soma Institute hosted its Winter Graduation at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the Fairmont Hotel. Graduating classes included 0810D, 0811D, 0808E, 0901D, 0902D and the 2009 Master Program.
Barry Wright, Director of Professional Services, began the ceremony with an opening proclamation followed by a greeting from President and Founder, Joan Hannant. Following this, the valedictorians from each graduating class read their speeches to the 600+ audience of fellow students, faculty, staff, friends and family.
The ceremony closed with final advice and closing remarks from Mike Hovi, the Clinical Massage Therapy Program Director and Ellen Letten, the Master Clinical Massage Therapy Program Director. Soma’s Winter Graduation was a beautiful and memorable ceremony that will be cherished by all in the Soma community.
