The Soma Institute is at the forefront of clinical massage therapy.
In 1998, The Soma Institute pioneered the practice of clinical massage therapy in the United States.
Since that time, we've continued to refine our Clinical Massage Therapy curriculum through the ongoing work of our dedicated faculty members.

Mike Hovi:
- Author, 2002 Integrative Cancer Therapies Journal article: Integrative Tumor Board: Advanced Breast Cancer
- Instructor, Complementary and Alternative Medicine Program, University of Illinois-Chicago Medical School
- Massage Therapist, 2002 & 2004 Olympic games
- Appointed to Illinois Massage Licensing Board, 2008
- Appointed to President of AMTA, Illinois Chapter, 2009
Michael Jones:
- Clinical Sports Therapist, Chicago Rush arena football team and University of Illinois-Chicago Flames men's basketball team
- Head of Student Therapy Team, LaSalle Bank's Chicago Marathon
- Creator new modality: Performance Enhancement Massage
- Published works in Athletico e-scorecard newsletter on Massage and Performing Arts
- Created technique manuals for his “Thai for the table” and “PESM: the ProNB technique” courses
- Currently involved in a massage and kinesiotape research project at UIC sponsored by The Human Anatomy and Physiology Society
Evan Osar:

- Earned national certifications through the American Council on Exercise, National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and The Soma Institute
